That’s according to Manchester United legend Gary Pallister, who spoke to American Gambler about both players’ potential impact at his former club.

Maguire moved to United for a world-record fee of £80million toward the end of the transfer window after making his ex-club Leicester aware of his desire to leave the Foxes.

On Maguire’s debut against Chelsea on the opening day of the season, the 26-year-old put in a man of the match performance as United won 4-0.

And Pallister believes the England international has the ability to completely transform United’s fortunes this season, having missed out on a top four spot in their last campaign.

“His calmness. He can head it, he can chest it, and he does all of the basics well,” he said of Maguire’s attributes.

“He’s got aggression but he’s also got that calmness and doesn’t panic when he’s given the ball in tight situations.

“And we all know how comfortable he is on the ball from watching Leicester and England.

“It’s early days but he brought calmness to the back four.

“But he’s only finding his feet within a team that he’s only played one game for.”

But Pallister, who won numerous honours with United, also commended the signing of Wan-Bissaka – another fine performer in his side’s win over Chelsea.

Wan-Bissaka made his move to United from Crystal Palace for an initial £50m and has already proven some of his worth during his short time with the club.

United had problems at right-back before Wan-Bissaka was signed, mainly due to the departure of Antonio Valencia and the fact that Ashley Young isn’t producing the same high-level performances he used to.

“He’s only going to get better, and the same for Wan Bissaka,” Pallister added.

“He’s only played one game but already his tackling, his spirit and his speed excites the fans.”

United’s next clash comes against Nuno Espirito Santo’s Wolves at Molineux on Monday.
