North Port Police search for 'wanted individual' near Cranberry Elementary

UPDATE: North Port Police have identified the individual they are looking for.

The North Port Police Department is warning residents that there will be a high police presence in the South Cranberry Lane and Spice Lane area, because “a wanted individual has fled on foot,” according to a Facebook post.

According to the post, the North Port Police have established a perimeter and they are not allowing children at Cranberry Elementary School to walk or ride home alone. Parent pick-up and busses are expected to proceed as normal.

They also ask nearby residents to “please lock your doors and stay inside your residence until we give the all clear.”

UPDATE: The North Port Police have identified Robert Steven Harrelson, 41, as the individual they are looking for. According to police, he is “wanted on multiple felonies for drugs and weapons.”
