Fans of Sacred Games were first introduced to Zoya (played by Elnaaz Norouzi) as a movie star who had a complicated past with Gaitonde (Nawazuddin Siddiqui) who helped her when she was Jamila.

As their relationship is analysed viewers will see Zoya in a number of steamy scenes with Gaitonde as she becomes his mistress while Jamila before finding fame.

Now, actress Elnaaz has opened up on filming the racy scenes admitting she found it “very tough”.

“Jamila is a fighter,” Elnaaz explained. “She met Gaitonde when he was vulnerable, when he needed someone.

“At the same time she also needed someone. They met at the same time. They help each other.”

She continued to India Today: “Yeah it’s been great how Jamila grows into Zoya.

“Both these characters are very different from each other. It was fun to play as them as an actor.

“We had a couple of fun scenes together and I can’t wait to see them.”

Elnaaz added she was glad director Anurag Kashyap was on set to help with the more intimate scenes between Zoya and Gaitonde.

“It was very tough for me because I haven’t done such things before,” she said.

“[Anurag] sat with me through every scene and helped me throughout the whole thing.

“Had he not been there I wouldn’t be confident enough to do it with any other director.”

But it seems Elnaaz need not have worried as co-star Nawazuddin was keen to make her feel as comfortable as possible.

“One has to place trust on you in order to bring out natural and honest performances,” he explained.

“The moment that comfort and trust is not there, it reflects on the scene.”

As the series continues, fans are no doubt wondering if the show will go past a second season.

Showrunner Vikramaditya Motwane has told the Hindustan Times the show could go past the novel it is based on.

“Should things go on we’ll make things up,” he explained.

The first run of Sacred Games used up the first 500 pages of the novel while the second season looks at the last 500 pages so it’s likely bosses would have to create a new storyline.

Sacred Games season 2 is available to stream on Netflix now.
