The 17th series of Strictly Come Dancing premieres on BBC One this autumn with 15 famous faces prepared to don sequins and hit the dance floor in the hopes of winning the Glitter Ball trophy. Beginning in 2004 with Natasha Kaplinsky the first ever Strictly winner, the BBC series has continued to gain a massive audience through the years, in no small part down to the chemistry and relationships between to the celebs and the pro dancers. While some may refer to a Strictly curse, here’s which couple’s romances blossomed because of Strictly Come Dancing.
5 relationships that have blossomed from Strictly Come Dancing
Gemma Atkinson and Gorka Marquez
Strictly Come Dancing 2017 welcomed former Hollyoaks and Emmerdale star Gemma Atkinson to its line-up.
Atkinson may have been paired with Aljaž Skorjanec but behind the scenes, she hit things off with pro Gorka Marquez.
So much so that shortly after series 15 ended the pair went official with their romance.
Marquez and Atkinson have been together ever since and even welcomed their first child Mia on July 4, 2019.

Stacey Dooley and Kevin Clifton
Kevin Clifton has been a mainstay in the Strictly pro line-up for six years now and in 2018 he was paired up with TV presenter Stacey Dooley.
Clifton was previously married to fellow Strictly pro Karen Clifton but the pair split earlier in 2018 prior to him meeting Dooley.
Dooley and Clifton’s chemistry was evident for all to see and their flawless routines saw them to final where they lifted the Glitter Ball trophy.
In the months after their Strictly victory, they confirmed they were together romantically.
They’re still a couple now, although Dooley told The Guardian they’ve turned down offers of “tens of thousands of pounds” for interviews in order to keep their private life just that.

Janette Manrara and Aljaž Skorjanec
Strictly Come Dancing professionals Janette Manrara and Aljaž Skorjanec both joined the line-up of dancers in series 11.
They had already been dating for two years before debuting on Strictly together in 2013 but it’s gone from strength-to-strength on the BBC contest.
Skorjanec was crowned one half of the winning duo in his debut series, announced as Strictly champ with model Abbey Clancy.
Manrara and Skorjanec have remained a Strictly power couple ever since and announced their engagement in 2015.
Two years later, the Strictly pros tied the knot and will both return to the dance floor in 2019 for the new series.

The pair made it all the way to the final finishing as runners-up.
While Kovalev and Roberts didn’t do enough to win the series, the singer was celebrating a victory of her own in the form of Giovanni Pernice.
Behind the scenes, Pernice and Roberts struck up a romantic relationship.

Joe Sugg and Dianne Buswell
YouTube sensation Joe Sugg quickly emerged as a frontrunner to take the Strictly 2018 crown last series when he was paired up with Dianne Buswell.
The pair narrowly missed out on the top spot, however, to Clifton and Dooley.
Their runner-up position in the series didn’t dampen the fact they had struck up a romance away from the dancefloor.
Sugg and Buswell’s adorable romance is still going strong today and the pair have even announced a joint dance tour for 2020.
Strictly Come Dancing 2019 starts on BBC One this autumn.
